Curriculum
Our school meets the general recommendations of the State of Illinois. Every effort is made to keep our curriculum Christ-centered as well as current, and we consider various material and resources for the purpose of curriculum evaluation and study.
Elementary: (Grades 1 – 5)
Students must pass the core foundational courses: English (or equivalent, i.e. Phonics, Reading, Writing) and Math. The elementary supervisor and the school’s administration will review any student that fails more than one subject for the year, before they are promoted. This review will take place even if the student would pass both English and Math.
Junior High: (Grades 6 – 8)
Students must pass three of the four core courses: English, Math, Bible, and Science or Social Studies. Failures in these subjects will be the responsibility of the student to be made up during a summer school program provided at their expense. If parents choose not to pursue a summer school program for their student, they must notify the administration in the form of a letter to schedule an interview. At the interview with the administration, the parent and student must propose a plan of action that they will take to ensure an improvement of the student’s academic performance.
Senior High: (Grades 9 – 12)
The students of Bethel Christian Academy are classified according to credits they have successfully completed. Each high school student is responsible, with the help and advice of the school’s administration, to complete the graduation requirements of Bethel Christian Academy. Students are classified by the following criteria:
- Freshman – Students that have successfully completed 0 to 5 credits
- Sophomores – Students that have successfully completed 6-11 credits
- Juniors - Students that have successfully completed 12-17 credits
- Seniors – Students that have completed more than 17 credits
